Split Enz reforming to tour, this is one I just have to see, but I do hope they throw in some Crowded House songs in as well. Anyone interested?

Sometimes life sucks

Australia Day 2006 will not go down in my memory as a very happy one. So far I have found out that 2 people I know died on this day. The first one was the husband of a great woman I know, she as a tower of strength whilst I was on Hume City Council from 2000 to 2003. Her hubby T was diagnosed with cancer in about 1999 and battled until yesterday until it finally caught up with him.

The second is a former work colleague, M was such great fun, a mad irish woman, who survived the Ash Wednesday fires, who I spent many an hour playing 500 with. I got a call out of the blue tonight and as told of her passing and am feeling a bit shellshocked at the moment.

I am in a quandry at the moment, both funerals are on Tuesday, one at 10am at Fawkner and 11am at Altona. Can I get to them both, I would really like to, maybe 45mins at the first and arrive at the 2nd 15 mins late, and to top it off it's the first day at school for the kids. Sometime life sucks!!!!!

And if I were still married, it would be 16 years today. LOL

This is hillarious but not for the owner of the Laptop

Aussie Marcos

Happy Australia Day, spent the morning at the Australia Day Ceremony at Hume, that was lovely. Heard some upsetting news about a friend's husband dying early this morning. RIP TA. "H" my thoughts are with you.

However whilst I am not the biggest tennis fan, but I am a sports junkie, it's great to see Marcos Baghdatis through to the final on Sunday night, at least it gives me someone to cheer for.

It's hot, still 30 degrees at nearly midnight.

Mary Bluett - Starting the Libs Campaign Rolling

Australian Education Union (Victorian Branch), I don't know about their memory but mine is pretty sharp, and I remember back to the Kennett days when schools were closed and teacher numbers slashed. Maybe they would like to go back to that regime. Now I am not saying that the Public Education System is perfect, it's far from it, however it's a darn side better than it was in 1998. Just for Mary's sake I say we all vote a Liberal Govt back in Victoria, then let her spend $2 million trying to backtrack, cause she will have less members as there will be less teachers.

I am stunned!

I don't have time to upload the pics so take a look at this, now I went to Roselands in Sydney when I was about 13 (27 years nago), and cried cause I had touched him, now this is creepy. I know they say that good looking teens turn into bad looking adults but this must be the extreem.

Tragedy in Egypt

A tragic bus crash in Egypt the other day has claimed the lives of 6 Australians, 5 from Melbourne and one of those is from Sunbury, infact he lived about 400 metres from my place.

George Panayoutis was killed and his wife is in a critical condition in hospital, they were part of a cultural exchange group travelling to Egypt.

At least one if not two of my friends are on a similar tour at present and going by the radio interview done with Monica Gould today, they were on the same road last Friday.

My condolences go to all that have lost loved ones in this tragedy.

Back from the beach

Back from the beautiful 90 mile beach yesterday, spent the week reading lots of Council stuff and trying to get my head around some interesting bugeting issues.

Back to work tomorrow, was supposed to be today but my mum is in a bad way with her sciatic nerve problem, hopefully an operation within the near future will help eleviate her pain.

I don't usually get a laugh from blond jokes but this one is a cracker.
